Science happening in Room 10! Making Ooblek

Our current inquiry topic is "Change". We have been doing some science experiments and  are looking at how there can be physical change or chemical change.

Today we made Ooblek. We had to mix water, cornflour and food colouring. We then had great fun playing with it to see how the Ooblek could change from being nearly solid when you press it, to being quite liquid when you squeeze it between your fingers.

Exploration - Our Individual Inquiries

This week  as the final part of our work around Exploration we have been working on our own individual inquiry into an explorer of our choice.

We started by using the I-Pads and computers to find the names of some famous explorers. We used this research to make a list of explorers and from this list we could choose the explorer that we wanted to find out more about.

We then wrote our inquiry questions - or what we would like to find out about our explorer.

To find out the answers to our questions we had to use the class computers, I-Pads and books to research our explorer.

We found the answers to our questions and many more interesting facts. We then published our work in a variety of ways.

These are now displayed in our room so we can read each others work and find out more about some different explorers.

Cross Country Fun Run

Today was the cross country fun run at school. We had a great time running around the field, up the hill, under the net, through the tunnel and over the hurdles.

We have also been learning to do persuasive writing where you have to try to put your point of view across in a persuasive way. We learnt that you need to include an introduction, some reasons with varying sentence starters and a conclusion in our writing. We used the cross country as a topic for our writing and why we thought it should be a part of our learning at school.

I think the fun run should be allowed. One reason is that it can get you moving. You can have fun because you run with your friends. It is fun because you can get your feet all muddy. Finally, you can run on the field. That is why the fun run should definitely be allowed. Bayleigh Loft

I think we should do cross country running at school. If we did not have cross country, we would not get fit. It is fun and you can get prizes. It is a long race and you can get healthy. It is not all about winning, it is about trying your best. It is fun because you can go in the mud. That is why we should have cross country.  Esther Hogan

I think cross country should be allowed at school. It is good for you because it makes you fit. It is fun because you can win a prize. Finally, it tests your running skills.  That is why we should do the fun run.  Souma Fox

I think cross country should be allowed at school. One reason is because you can get fit. You can make your parents proud of your running. That is why we need cross country. Kayden Mailata

I think cross country should be allowed at school. The reason why cross country is there is to see how fast you are and to get you fit. Another reason is because it is fun and I love running. The most important reason is that it gets your heart pumping. Finally, cross country is fun because you get to compete against other people and if you are faster it is more fun. That is why I like cross country. Sofie Madriaga

Cross country should be allowed at school.  First because it gets your heart pumping. Cross country should be allowed because you can get prizes up to $1,000. Cross country should be allowed and you can have fun.  Chloe Osongco

Every single school should have cross country. Cross country is fun because you can jump hurdles and get prizes. Another reason is that it can keep  you fit because you run for a long time. Finally it finishes when you have done everything. That is why we should have cross country.  Jocelyn Lui

I think cross country should be allowed at all schools. It is fun because you get to go underneath the tunnel and up the hill. You get fit and exercise because you jump and go over the hurdles. The most important thing about cross country is fun! This is why we should have cross country. Matei Stanciu

I think cross country should be allowed at Target Road School. You can get prizes so it is challenging and very fun. Another reason is exercise. Exercise is fit and healthy and running is exercise and you can get strong and skinny. Finally you can make yourself faster and your heart pumps. I love seeing people and how fast they are. I believe fun runs should be allowed.  Euan Song

I think cross country should be allowed at school. It is fun because you can get muddy and win prizes. Another reason is you exercise. Exercise gets you fit and skinny. Finally it tests your running skills. I like testing how fast you are. That's why cross country should be allowed. Zoey Bates-Wellington
