Function - Marble Runs

As the final part of our individual inquiry work around Function we made our own marble runs. The children could work on their own or in pairs to construct their own marble run. They had to design and plan their run, then use cardboard to make their marble runs. It involved a lot of creative  thinking and problem solving to ensure the marbles could run successfully all the way through the marble run. Function - Pulley

The next simple machine we learnt about was the pulley, another machine that can help us move and lift heavy objects.

Function - Wheelbarrows

A wheelbarrow is a good example of a simple machine that uses a wheel and axle and levers to help us move and carry heavy objects.
We made our own wheelbarrows using boxes and straws.
